Next iPhone – Will It Be Called iPhone 5 or iPhone 6 or iPhone LTE???

On October 4, millions of iPhone lovers were quite disappointed to hear that Apple came out with an iPhone 4S, instead of an iPhone 5. Expectations were particularly high as Apple took 16 months to release the next generation model in October 2011, after releasing the iPhone 4 in June of 2010. But, now, iPhone lovers have no choice but to wait until June 2012 or fall of 2012 to find out about the next iPhone. We will explore the possible names for the next iPhone. Will it be called the iPhone 5, the iPhone 6 or the iPhone LTE.

The following post was written a while ago. A lot of news has come out about the iPhone 5 since then. Check out the latest news on the iPhone 5 by visiting http://www.iphone5reviewed.com.

Will the next iPhone be called the iPhone 5?

This seems to be the most logical choice. But, there is a small problem with the iPhone 5 being the name of the next iPhone. This is because, technically, the iPhone 4S is a fifth generation iPhone. So, the next iPhone that will come out in 2012 should be called the iPhone 6. But, nobody knows what basis Apple uses to decide on the nomenclature of its products.

If you remember, the second iPhone was called the iPhone 3G and not the iPhone 2. But, the second generation iPad was called iPad 2. So, we can basically say that Apple is going to keep us guessing on the name of the next iPhone.

Will the next iPhone be called the iPhone 6?

People who think that the next iPhone should be called the iPhone 6 are those who think that it should be that way because the next iPhone is going to have an A6 processor and an iOS6 operating system. So, their reasoning is that it would be lame for a new iPhone to be called iPhone 5, when it is going to have a sixth generation processor and a sixth generation operating system. But, this logic is flawed too. We say it is flawed because the iPhone 4S came out with an A5 processor and iOS5 operating system.

So, essentially, Apple is open to just mixing and matching the generational names of their hardware and software products.

Will the next iPhone be called the iPhone LTE?

A small group of iPhone enthusiasts think that the next iPhone will neither be called the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 6. They think that it is going to be called the iPhone LTE. As bizarre or silly as it might sound, they do have a point. Their point is this. The iPhone 3G was called the iPhone 3G because it was capable of supporting 3G speeds. So, Apple wanted to promote a phone that people readily recognized as being able to work on the most modern data network at that time. So, going by that theory, the next generation iPhone should be called the iPhone LTE.

What will be the name of the next iPhone, according to us?

OK, we have talked about what others think the next iPhone should be called. Now, we are going to give you suggestions on what we think it should be. Honestly, we think that the new iPhone should get a radical new name. Of course, the iPhone part should stay. But, we think that they should leave out the numbers and give us something cool like the iPhone Fire, iPhone N (N for new) or even the iPhone X.

Or, how about the iPhone S (In memory of Steve Jobs). After all, it is rumored that he spent his last few days furiously working on the blueprint of the next generation iPhone, knowing very well that he might not be around for it’s release.
