The HTC HD7 is a very popular Windows smartphone. If you like Windows phones and also like large screens, the HD7 might seem like a phone that was just made for you. Take a look at the sections below to learn more about HTC HD7 specs.
HTC HD7 Specs
The Good
This phone has a very large 4.3 inches screen that really brings out the effectiveness of the Live Tiles that you will find in the Windows 7 OS, for mobile phones. It has a very robust build and design quality to it. It even comes with a kickstand. Other impressive smartphone specs that you will find on this phone are a decent 5MP camera that is also capable of HD video capture.
The Bad
If you are a power user, you might find the 16GB non expandable storage space to be a little restrictive. Also, the responsiveness of the touch screen could have been a little better in our opinion. Though the phone has a kickstand, the purpose of the kickstand is somewhat defeated as the quality of the speakers is quite average. There is no front facing camera on this phone.
Summary
If you love the Window 7 Metro UI and feel that other windows phones just do not give you enough in terms of screen size, the HTC HD7S specs will definitely satisfy your needs. However, the phone is a little wanting in some departments such as processor performance and display quality. Read though the entire description of the HTC HD7 to see if this phone will be the right Windows phone for you.
Design
This is a pretty big phone. Its height comes in at 4.8 inches and even the width is quite sizable at 2.7 inches. Thickness is a very slim .4 inches. The phone is pretty heavy, with its weight at 5.7 ounces. The build quality of this phone is excellent and you will feel like you are holding a very well made piece of hardware in your hands. Though the phone has a lot of plastic, HTC have also included a material that provides a soft textured feel that negates some the plastic feel. See the pictures below to take a look at the design and build quality of the HTC HD7. We didn’t have any complaints there. In fact, when compared to the limited fleet of Windows smartphones, we would say that the HD7 is still the best looking smartphone among them.

The HTC HD7 has a classy design and very good build quality. It is the largest Windows 7 Phone in the market today
As mentioned earlier, the main attraction of this phone is the very large 4.3 inch screen. The Windows 7 OS uses large Live Tiles to display apps and widgets and the screen size is perfect for displaying those live tiles. Browsing is also a very unique and satisfying experience on this large Windows 7 phone. We have to clarify one thing here though. The larger screen does not mean that you can view more live tiles on the screen. It just means that you can see bigger live tiles. Though the former option would have been nice, enlarged live tiles will allow you to see things like RSS updates and stock information updates in a better manner, without having to strain your eye.
The 4.3 inch screen puts out a 480X800 resolution. While we have no complaints about the pixel density, we felt that brightness and sharpness was a little dull, especially when the phone is compared to some of the Super AMOLED and full HD displays that are available now. If this phone had a sensational looking display, it would have been one of the hottest purchases in the market. That being said, the screen is not a cheap looking screen by any means. It is still very acceptable by smartphone standards and you will not have any problems with it unless you are specifically buying the phone for heavy multimedia usage like game play use.

Though the HTC HD7 screen has a 480X800 pixel resolution, the screen looks a bit dull when compared to Super AMOLED Displays
The phone has a nice little kickstand, with metal accents, that will allow you to stand the phone up when you make calls on speakerphone or when you watch videos. It was a nice little addition although the external speakers are quite tinny on this phone.
Memory
One important thing to know about HTC HD7S specs is that memory is limited to 16GB. There is no expandable SD card slot. The phone uses 576MB RAM and 512MB ROM.
Camera
This phone does not have a front facing camera. The rear facing camera is a 5MP camera that is supported by a dual LED flash. The camera does quite well in outdoor conditions. But, in indoor conditions with not so ideal light, the camera’s performance was quite disappointing. In low light conditions, the camera had a tendency to add a reddish hue to the pictures that looks quite bad. There are a lot of scene modes that might allow the camera to take better indoor pictures although we thought that the camera should have done better in its default mode.
The 5MP camera can record video in 720P HD mode although video quality was also just average.
Call quality
Call quality on this phone is excellent. There is no background noise, white noise or distortions and you can have great conversations on this phone. The volume level is also very audible and you will have a lot of leverage to increase or decrease it. Speakerphone call quality is also good although the max volume was a bit too low, in our opinion. You might find it difficult to use in noisy conditions.
Data transfer
HTC HD7S specs do not include HSPA+ support. But, you will be able to get average 3G speeds with this phone.
Processor and performance
HTC HD7S specs include a 1GHz single core processor that is supported by 576MB RAM and 512MB ROM. General application and general use of the phone is pretty snappy although you might experience a few small delays when you load resource sucking apps like games with heavy graphics. But, in general, the 1GHz processor is up to the task of running this smartphone.
Battery life
The HTC HD7S will be able to give you about 6-7 hours of continuous talk time. On standby mode, the phone will last for about two weeks.
Conclusion
If you are in the market for a Windows phone, you will be tempted by this phone that has a pretty large display and some good all round specs. But, it retails at a price point that is higher than other popular Windows phones like the Samsung Focus Flash and the Samsung Focus. While the Samsung models are smaller in size, they have more of a oomph factor when it comes to the camera, processor and battery life department. Maybe you can read through the specs on the other two Windows phones to see which one will be right for you.
